Welcome to the White Tulip blog!

Hello, I'm Amanda and I am a professional wedding and portrait photographer based in Perth, Western Australia. Given my first manual film SLR from my dad (who also used to be a wedding photographer) when I was 13, I quickly developed a love of the art. I then studied photography throughout high school and at University, teaching media and photography at high schools and finally, becoming a professional. I absolutely love what I do and take great pride in my work. There is nothing better than meeting amazing people on a journey in their lives and being able to document part of that journey via beautiful imagery.

This is my blog; my online journal where I document everything from weddings and portrait sessions, information regarding my company, to personal insights into my life, personality and family. I hope you enjoy reading and viewing; comments are welcomed!

If you would like to contact me regarding your wedding photography or portrait sessions, please don't hesitate to call me on 04300 61682 or email [email protected]

New product line

These new albums are a great idea for parent albums! When ordering a traditional main wedding album, you can also order parent albums, which are a mini version of the bridal album, at 20% off.

This stunning example features a two tone premium leather cover, with stitching detail. The album itself is contemporary matted (maybe an oxymoron, I know) which basically means has crisp, white, modern pages, but still with mats to protect the prints. I heart matted albums a lot…as long as they still look relatively modern.

The only condition to this offer is that the parent album be identical to the main bridal album and be ordered and paid for at the same time as this main album. The cover, however, may be altered to suit your parents’ tastes. This is relatively flexible.

Without further ado - some pics…

Stacey and Justin: Engagement Session

Well these two are just so sweet and gorgeous! I seriously cannot wait for their wedding. Stacey has assured me she is having a big train and veil so I’ll be working those on the beach for their location portraits!

This was an eventful session! Just a couple of hours before, my stepdaughter fell off her bike and managed to cut the back of her head. I took her to the hospital just in case, as it was bleeding a lot, but she was fine - just a little egg under all that blood! Better to be safe than sorry though I say.

Then Stacey and I couldn’t find each other for a while, and when she rang to find me near the Round House in Freo, I accidentally locked the keys in my car. Great!

Rang the RAC, went off to do the shoot, came back to get the keys from the lovely RAC man. Do you know they use a blood pressure pump! Stacey joked she could have done it if she had one in the car (she’s a nurse!). Off we went for part 2 of Engagement session…and caught the beautiful golden sunlight.

Here are some of my faves:

Flare, just for you Michelle…

I love how Stacey looks at her man…wow

What a handsome fella! Check out the eyes!

Loved this one as soon as I took it. This is straight out of camera. The 135L strikes again.

Awww so cute! Love this moment

I love Stacey’s expression in this - so dramatic!

And ‘arty-farty’ shot of the day. Just love this - the windswept hair is gorgeous.

Next three with the help of my available ‘video light’ aka the streetlamp!

So dramatic. Contrasty black and whites just do it for me and with such a gorgeous couple!

Shot from the top of the steps at the Round House looking back towards Freo. I love this. Really have to do some more night shooting. Techie notes: 800 ISO, 135L (again), 1/250s at f/2

Oh and I just wanted to say a big thank you to Stacey and her fellow nurses. You all do such a wonderful job and after spending an hour at the hospital with Amber, I appreciate it even more. xox

Simone and John

Wow, Saturday was such a stunning wedding. It was so lovely to be a part of it. Simone had everything planned meticulously and I’m pretty sure it all went according to that plan! From the entrance to Fiona, the soloist, singing Nessun Dorma to the exit through the Guards of Honour, the ceremony at St George’s Chapel is one I will remember for a long time. Very special indeed. The love between these two is tangible - they are enraptured with each other.

We had lots of fun at St George’s College for portraits and popped over to UWA for a few more. Then onto the reception at Darlington Winery in the hills where the wonderful atmosphere continued with family and friends and the very smooth tones of Cafe Society.

Congratulations again Simone and John - I look forward to showing you the rest very soon!

A face only a mother could love.

My beautiful boudoir girls…

Here’s a sneak peek of the girls from last week’s boudoir day. Aren’t they stunning? Wow.

Can’t wait to show you the rest girls!

P.S. All three girls have given permission for these images to be shown online. I always ask boudoir clients for approval before posting pics as they are of an intimate nature.
